The Find Madeleine Fund set up to locate the missing four-year-old is rapidly running out of money, it was revealed yesterday.

The £1.2 million lump sum, made up of public donations, is half-spent and currently stands at around £600,000.

The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the projected figure for the end of March, if spending continued at current levels, is just under £350,000.

He added: “The pot will run dry by the end of the summer but we are obviously determined to make sure it doesn’t happen.”

A meeting of the Fund’s directors heard that the major expenditure, apart from advertising, is the £50,000-a-month fee to the Barcelona-based detective agency Metodo 3.

Its six-month contract is up for renewal in March.

Some directors were angered by the agency’s claims it would find Madeleine by Christmas.

Mr Mitchell added:”M3 are doing their job. Their contract will be discussed at the Fund’s February meeting.
The Fund is also introducing a new commercially aware policy in which the media will be expected to make some sort of contribution.

Mr Mitchell said: “The media are making commercial gain but not a penny of that comes back to the Fund.”

    hobnob Says:

    sir.

Further to the story that they are trying to close this site
down, can they actually do that since article 19 of the human
    rights act states

    Article 19.
    •Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression;
this right includes freedom to hold opinions without
interference and to seek, receive and impart information and
ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

What they seem to be trying to do is ban anyone from having any
opinion that is contrary to their version of the events of that
night. If you follow this story to its logical conclusion
any page or website that disagreed with the opinion of another
    person would be illegal.
So, no one could disagree with MP’s or government or world
leaders or the actions of another country.
Last time I looked we lived in a democratic country called
the UK not a dictatorship like Myanmar or North Vietnam or
China where everyone has to toe the line or disappear.
For parents that are so concerned with finding their daughter
they seem to spend an innordinateamount of time threatening
legal action and covering their own asses rather than actually
physically looking for the 3 yr old daughter they left alone
every night for a week babysitting 2 yr old twins whilst they got
    drunk with their friends.
Also if we follow this to another logical conclusion, the police
files for this crime are in the public domain , with
translations into English are freely available.
Now these files all say that Madeleine is dead and her parents
    were complicit in the disappearance.
If you check, the files say the parents are suspected of homicide,
concealing a cadaver and simulating a crime.
This doesn’t include the admitted child neglect they have
publicly admitted to which carries a jail term of 2-5 years and
if harm befalls the child then it goes up to 10 years.
Does this mean then that the police files which they demanded
access to now be deleted and expunged from public record since
it is of the opinion of their guilt?
The books and documentary are based on information from the
police files by a detective who was in charge of the case.
The leaflets point out what is also in the police files as do
the websites. People are entitled to their opinion on this case
be they for for or against but it seems that when the parents
say jump we are supposed to ask how high.
If the sites move to hosts outside the UK then they will not
have a leg to stand on, if they tried to ban it they would be
    laughed out of court.
What you should also to be asking is who is funding all these
legal fees? If it comes from the fund then they lied when they
said it would be used only to search for Madeleine but we knew
that when we saw the accounts last year.
And obtaining money under false pretences is a serious crime.
    And I don’t think that the McCann’s
can really afford the fees charged by Carter-Ruck on Gerry’s NHS
    salary.

Maybe you could do a story on the freedom of the press and
internet because unless you do something they will be allowed
to win and with that you have just let them muzzle the press
and media and internet with no freedom of speech or thought and
we have just become a dictatorship under the control of a pair
of a pair of neglectful parents.
No one can have or be able to voice their own opinions for fear
of an early morning knock on the door.
You have fought hard to bring the questions and theories to the
attention of the public when the Mccanns tried to hide it and
smother it and the public is very interested in this case.
Unlike other crimes there is very little known about the parents
and tapas 7 cohorts. Their friends and workmates have said
nothing. Is it because they have no friends outside that little
group or that the information that is known about them would
blow apart their smokescreen of loving responsible parents with
no dirty secrets , no rows no bad habits no history at all.
They ALL know what happened that night, something so bad, so
damaging, so horrendous that on no account must She be found.
Until kate answers the 48 questions and they all take part in an
official reconstruction then they are suspects. the only time
they can ever claim to be cleared of any involvement is when the
foreman of the jury says Not Guilty. Until they face a court and
the evidence is revealed they will have to accept the fact they
are suspects in the crimes of homicide, concealing a cadaver and,
    simulating a crime

I twittered Mark Williams Thomas…mentioned David Payne (Mark is running a series of programmes about paedophiles)…

    He replied…

i do not know what you mean re David Payne- tell me more

So I sent him the info from your site.

Stevo: Mark Williams-Thomas was a former anti-porn cop. He will know about Payne. MWT seems to be acting out favours in supporting the McCanns. His interaction in the case is bizarre IMO.

I fully support and stand by Mr Bennett!

He is a genuine man who has the sole intention of finding justice and at his own cost and time, something that none of his accusers are accredited to, I’m sure of that!
It’s so easy to judge from your arm chair, with no experience of facts and or even a glimmer of the real world, where injustice and floored police investigations roam.
Go on believe the press, surely no real person writes such garbage and surely a newspaper is not just a means to make a bob or two?
What is important here is that someone, anyone, takes this proposal of law change seriously and in a comprehensive debate and rather than throw stones at it, listen and you might learn a thing or two, who knows once you given reason to the argument and discover the intentions, you may even agree with Mr Bennett.

Go on Tony go for it, poor little Madeline is no doubt proud of you trying!

    The
congratulations on your initiative, even though there is someone, besides
boundaries that supports our inspector Gonçalo Amaral and believe in your
true story, which is only truth. There are so many contradictions
I am convinced that these parents were negligent that they were treated
remove or sell the daughter has no forgiveness. they are involved.
There is a mother in the world who do not cry the disappearance of his son,
this woman did not shed a tear, this woman deserves to have the
    children have with her.
Congratulations would love to read your book.
Because we still have people able to stand up and face the
truth. The truth above all if they were ordinary people without the
knowledge that is behind it, the case to be forgotten would be
a child among millions of missing children.
    Congratulations.
    Yours sincerely.

    Tony Says:

Why PJ didn’t find anyone, who was carrying child on that night of 3rd May, where Smiths family gave some evidence? It was also fake like Madeleine abduction? If Dr G. Amaral knows the dead scents was not from Madeleine, why he accused the parents of killing their daughter?
    With regards Tony
